Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Medical Center (VAMC)
Format Project
This project proposes to identify the key barriers to regaining participation after stroke. This data will be used to develop a post-stroke rehabilitation intervention intended to increase life satisfaction and quality of life, and provide cost-effective care. The project will identify key elements of the domains of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) and their relationship to participation after stroke, completed through two secondary data analyses of existing data related to post-stroke depression and fall risk factors;
explore, refine, and expand the ICF domain of the environment through questionnaires, assessments, focus groups, and semi-structured interviews with veterans who have survived a stroke, caregivers, and VA rehabilitation therapists; and identify barriers and supports to the implementation of a multi-faceted stroke rehabilitation intervention focusing on participation, completed through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with VA rehabilitation therapists.
