Founded in 2001, Partners Online Program (POL) has made it possible for PYD to expand its service area statewide in order to assist youth with disabilities who are isolated by poverty, mobility and geography to access PYD services, particularly inspirational adult mentors. POL’s objectives include improving access, facilitating frequent communication and building the technology skills that are so important to educational and professional pursuits of all people, especially those with disabilities who may improve accommodations with technology. The screening process for mentors is equally as rigorous as the Mentor Match Program (MM) and matched pairs are provided the means to communicate through email, instant messaging and chat in a secure environment monitored by PYD staff.
