The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding research and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.  In1982, the American Paralysis Association was formed by a group of people that refused to accept the existing idea that once the spinal cord was injured, it could not be repaired; they believed that scientists and researchers would discover a way to connect and regenerate the damaged nerves and cells  resulting from paralysis.  Christopher Reeve shared the Association’s belief in a cure, and the organization became known as the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
