Community First Choice Final Rules Announced
On April 26, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) announced, and on April 27 final rules were published in the Federal Register to implement the Medicaid state plan option to provide home and community-based attendant services. The purpose is to assist with activities of daily living and health-related tasks through hands-on assistance, supervision, and/or cueing.

Primary Care Home Visits Demo Sites Announced
On April 26, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) announced the selection of 16 organizations to provide primary care in the home setting to improve care for persons with multiple chronic conditions. The 16 sites are in Delaware, Florida (2), Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan (2), North Carolina, New York (2), Ohio, Oregon, Texas (2), and Wisconsin.

Parity – Mental Illness and Substance Abuse – Regional Hearings Announced
Former U.S. Representatives Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) and Jim Ramstad (R-MN) and the Parity Implementation Coalition have announced regional hearings. A hearing was conducted April 26 in Kalamazoo. A July 17 hearing will be held in Minneapolis. Hearings will be scheduled in California, Florida, and DC.
