AAHD is working with five national coalitions in responding to the December HHS bulletin on “essential health benefits.” On December 23, 2011, AAHD joined 30 national coalitions led by the National Women’s Law Center and Center for Budget and Policy Priorities stating the need for precise information on the actual state specific benchmark plans being conisdered. On January 23, the National Health Council submitted its recommendations on the HHS bulletin. AAHD is a NHC member. The NHC letter is available for download: PDF.
On January 31, AAHD joined 29 national organizations, led by the American Lung Association, on the need to cover tobacco cessation programs. The letter is available for download: PDF.
On February 1, AAHD submitted its comments to HHS on EHB and emphasied the need for health promotion and wellness for persons with co-occurring disability and chronic illness as a component of the disease management category. The AAHD letter is available for download: PDF. Attached is the Coalition for Whole Health letter. AAHD is one of 49 national associations and there are numerous state and local signatories. AAHD joined 57 other national associations in the Mental Health Liaison Group in submitting comments on theEHB bulletin. The letter is available for download: PDF.
On February 9, 28 members of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), including AAHD, commented to HHS on EHB. The letter includes AAHD drafted “Chronic Disease Management, Prevention, and Wellness for People with Disabilities” statistics. The letter is available for download: PDF.
